South Trail Crossing includes several big-box retailers and serves Douglasdale, McKenzie Towne, McKenzie Lake, and New Brighton. Other malls that serve southern Calgary more broadly include Deerfoot Meadows across the Bow River.  

Transportation

SE Calgary is connected to the rest of the metropolitan area via Deerfoot Trail and Glenmore Trail. The Red Line CTrain runs down Macleod Trail in Southwest Calgary, with Anderson, Canyon Meadows, Shawnessy, and Somerset-Bridlewood stations typically a 15  to 20 minute drive away. The upcoming Green Line LRT expansion is planned to include Douglas Glen, Ogden, and Seton. 

Education and Healthcare

The region is served by the Calgary Board of Education and includes a large network of public elementary, middle, and high schools. Bow Valley College and the University of Calgary are both a 25 to 30 minute drive from most SE communities via AB-2 N.
